In 2011, Swain became the full-time director and continued in that position until 2016. After her eight-year career at Fairmont State University, Swain transitioned to Main Street Fairmont and saw the community non-profit through reorganization as their interim executive director. In 2016, she furthered her non-profit career as a program coordinator and tenant relations manager with the Fairmont Community Development Partnership.
In the summer of 2019, Swain became the community impact director for the United Way of Marion and Taylor Counties where she focuses on program development and community initiatives.
Emily is an active member of the community, having served on the Main Street Fairmont Board of Directors, Jayenne Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization and volunteers for multiple area youth sports groups. She and her husband, Matt, have two children, Jeffrey and Bailey. Their family enjoys spending time together camping, watching football and, of course, attending the kids’ many activities.
